The kick-off meeting of the Eurostars project COMBIMAT took place on October 5, 2016. COMBIMAT is a collaborative project that will commercialize a tool for material discovery via deposition of combinatorial material libraries. The system will combine a versatile 12-target physical vapor deposition (PVD) chamber with a unique removable multi-temperature sample holder and motion-programmable mask.

Polygon Physics will develop the deposition system based on its unique multi ion beam deposition technology. Alemnis and Plasma Surface Engineering group of the Bern University of Applied Sciences will develop the sample holder and mask. After fabrication the system will be placed at partner EMPA (Thun), who will use their expertise in thin film characterization to validate the system for combinatorial materials library fabrication.
